Foundation For Pluralism - Studies in Religious Pluralism & Pluralistic Societies

INDIA : National Conference against Fascism & Terrorism

Dear Mukul &  Feroze  and members of the organizing committee;

Thank you for sharing the information about this conference.

A conference of this magnitude is the need of this age to bring reality, whatever that might be to the Indian Public. I urge you to invite the following categories of people:

80% of the speakers to be moderates from all faith traditions
20% to be extremists from all faiths.

A true conference will incorporate all opinions; without the extremists, we would not have a complete picture. Let each panel discussion be with one single objective - Solutions.

Let no speaker be allowed to speak if they do not have a solution that honors every Citizen of India, rich or poor, educated or not. Please see if you can get them to sign (listed below) Pledge as a condition to speak.

"If you want to make peace, you don't talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies. Mother Theresa

"Because we all share this planet earth, we have to learn to live in harmony and peace with each other and with nature. This is not just a dream, but a necessity - Dalai Lama

FIRST NATIONAL CONFERENCE AGAINST
FASCISM , TERRORISM & ENCOUNTERS

Ahmedabad, India.
September 1-2, 2007

INVITATION for REGISTRATION

It is apparent to one and all that the issue of terrorism is no more a problem that can be ignored or wished away. The post 9/11 world, is one in which, terror has become a dominant part of the socio-political discourse in countries across the world, in a manner that most of us could never have imagined. We know that Bush's Global War on Terror (GWoT) is nothing but a euphemism for unleashing wars for Global domination and control over resources. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan today stand exposed in the eyes of the world

Ordinary Indians from across all religious communities have fallen prey to terror and these attacks have occurred in Mandirs, Masjids, trains, buses and public places. This climate of suspicion and fear is fuelling communal divisions and hatred. At the same time our country is on the terror radar and our security services have repeatedly failed to protect the people, whilst managing to protect politicians through regular encounters. We are now experiencing a daily barrage of emails, telephone calls, faxes etc, threatening temples, mosques, airlines, prominent commercial buildings, political leaders and what have you. Terrorist attacks and encounter deaths have become the norm.  Counter to the general perception, actually terror bomb blasts have replaced communal riots as a strategy of the State to divide people. Not a single terror attack either in a Mandir or Masjid has led to communal riots. They are not meant to!! Terror attacks achieve the same aim without blood stains on the hands of the politicians, police or bureaucracy.

The people are undoubtedly fearful and confused and this anger then transforms itself into an anti-Muslim Islamophobia.  The general climate of violence and wars, is also fuelling the growth of religious extremism across all sections and all these factors are a threat to Indian democracy and secularism.

The necessity of the National Conference was also felt in view of the growing tendency of the State to use violence against innocent citizens under the guise of "fighting terrorism".

We appeal to all those who have undertaken fact finding regarding the fake encounters and fake acts of terrorism and also of RSS involvements in such activities to send us their reports.  Our plan is to compile a dossier of all the fact finding reports and you are all requested to email us the same as soon as possible.

For the first ever time at the National Conference, we will discuss and present the facts as they have been recorded by the people regarding the  terror attacks ranging from the Parliament, Godhra-Sabarmati Express, Sankat Mochan Mandir, Mumbai, Hyderabad Mecca Mosque, Nagpur, Malegaon, Nanded and the encounters in Chittispora, Ansal Plaza, Sohrabuddin, Ishrat Jahan, Khwaja Yunus etc.

We will also discuss the international terror networks and the linkages between the Al Qaeda and the CIA-MOSSAD.  The 9/11 WTC attack itself will be dealt with, since it is the centre piece of the GWoT. We deconstruct and expose the lies of the WTC terror attack and the rest of the lies all falls apart like a pack of cards.

The issues are complex but we need to start a process at the national level and all the reports that we garner and all the discussions that we record, will be compiled, since an effort of this sort has never been undertaken in India.

We need to free our minds and liberate it from the propaganda of the corporate controlled print and electronic media and as we clear the veil of lies, we will take the truth to the people.

We thus request all concerned activists and people to attend. Participants are requested to confirm their  participation by email or call at:

INDIAN PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mike Ghouse

With the belief that every Indian wants justice to every human being;  rich or poor, connected or not, and demands fair treatment of every one of the 1.1 Billion Indians, we must come to grips with the social and community life to create an exemplary India, that will become a model nation in the world.

We have to give room to the extremists in every section of our communities be it Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain, Muslim, Sikh,  Zoroastrian or other, hoping they would recognize the God given space to each one of us and eventually see the benefits of co-existence.

I propose that the parliament of India introduce a bill for every political, cultural and religious organization in India to register with the Home Ministry, state their purpose, list their assets for public scrutiny, list the membership roster to be updated annually. Include a modified version of the 7 items into Indian Penal Code, and make it in to the law to punish the violators of the law.

Patriotism should be defined in terms of what you do to uplift the hopes of people, in terms of education to all, jobs to as many as we can in each successive year, home for every human,  and a better life style to every Indian.

Every public office holder from the Peon to the President of India, and every one in between must take this pledge and live by it. Violation should disqualify him or her from holding the public office. Let it be monitored publicly.

1. I pledge allegiance to India, the nation that stands for liberty and justice for all.

2. I pledge that I honor and treat every Indian with "full" dignity.

3. I pledge that all individuals would be treated on par.

4. I pledge that I will treat all religions with equal respect, equal access and equal treatment.

5. I pledge that I will oppose any act that treats any Indian less than myself.

6. I Pledge that I will work for a India, where every individual can live with security and aspire for prosperity.

7. I pledge that I will protect, preserve and value every inch of India and every human soul in India

This would be the first step towards ensuring a Just, peaceful and prosperous India, that can sustain its progress and peace.

Jai Hind
